PhD scholarship opportunity: Shallow lakes and algal blooms
As part of the Nuisance and Harmful Algae Science Practice Partnership, UNSW's A/Prof Will Glamore and Dr Fiona Johnson are seeking a PhD candidate to develop a classification system on the susceptibility of shallow lakes to algal blooms.
This will provide a better understanding of existing model limitations and the means for improving waterbody design and modelling for Melbourne Water. The outcomes from the PhD will contribute to new design guidelines for constructed shallow lakes and to other projects in the NHASP.
We are seeking potential candidates with a background in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater quality, algal dynamics, civil/environmental engineering, and/or mathematics. Preference will be given to applicants with the professional experience in urban stormwater quality or similar.
