Richard Stuetz

Richard has 23 years research experience, leads an interdisciplinary research team focused on water, wastewater and waste management processes. Specifically interested in the fate of contaminants in aquatic and atmospheric systems and their social and environmental impact. He has published over 300 journal and conference papers, supervised 28 PhD students and received funding for research in Australia, Europe and North America as lead chief investigator ($6M) and as co-chief or named investigator ($18.5M). He provides strategic and inspirational leadership with a commitment to research training and mentoring of early career researchers. He holds UNSW roles in research planning, management and governance in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and is Non-executive Board member of WaterRA. Richard has built strong network nationally and internationally in the water sector across academia, research, utilities and consulting. He has organised international (IWA) and national (AWA) specialist conferences in Australia, Europe and North America and was instrumental in the establishment of the IWA YWP programme and its international conference series.
